Ken has been practicing law in Portland, Maine, since 1985, with a sole focus on Family Law. In November of 2012, Ken was elected President of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, a national organization consisting of the top tier divorce lawyers in the United States. He previously served as the AAML Chair of the Institute for Family Law Associates committee and the Director of the annual training program the committee developed for associates of American Academy Fellows, until resigning to assume the vice presidency of the Academy. Ken was also the editor of the Academy newsletter. Ken is also a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers and has served as a Director of the IAML.

Previous to his involvement in national and international organizations, Ken was the Chair of the Maine State Bar Association Family Law section, as well as the section's former secretary and Legislative Liaison. He taught courses in Family Law for the University of Southern Maine's and Andover College's paralegal programs, but now more frequently lectures nationally and internationally.

Ken is a Diplomate of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers. The College is limited to one hundred of the top divorce lawyers in the country. Diplomates must have been trial attorneys in family law for a minimum of twenty years and admission is by invitation only.

Ken is included in the exclusive Best Lawyers in America in the specialty of Family Law and has been awarded the Maine Family Lawyer of the year. Ken is also distinguished as a Lawdragon Finalist and a New England Super Lawyer.

Ken is a member of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts and was a founding organizer of the AAML / AFCC bi-annual national program on Advanced Issues in Child Custody.

Ken participated in the drafting of the Guardian ad Litem statute enacted into law in February of 1994. In 1996, Ken was appointed by the Chief Justice to the Committee to Develop a Guardian ad Litem Training and Certification Program. Ken chaired the first six training programs for Guardians and presented the section on Family Law.

Ken was previously appointed by the Chief Justice of the State of Maine Supreme Judicial Court to the Committee to Study the Role of the Courts in Protecting Children.

Ken was appointed by the Chief Justice to serve on the Guardian ad Litem Review Board within the Board of Overseers, and currently serves as a member of the Board. 

Ken was the co-host of the morning political / current events radio show “The WGAN Morning News with Ken and Matt” for eighteen years, before his departure in March of 2020. During his tenure, Radio Ink, an established industry magazine, ranked WGAN as one of the top twenty stations in the United States. Ken has also appeared on such nationally programs as the Glenn Beck Show, CNN, Headline News, Nancy Grace, Jane Valez Mitchell, Dr. Drew, HLN's After Dark, NewsMax, and American's Voices. Ken appears weekly with his former WGAN co-host, Mike Violette, on the Wednesday morning "Ken & Mike Hour" on Legacy 1600 WSKW. Ken is also one of the five panelists on WCSH Channel 6's weekly political commentary show Political Brew. 

Ken is also the author of a book on golf entitled Golf Foreplay.
